Badger Fly Fishers, a local non profit fly fishing club
Welcome to the Badger Fly Fishers!
Based in Madison, Wisconsin, the Badger Fly Fishers is a non-profit organization that began in the late 1980’s as a chapter of the larger Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF). While the Badgers are no longer a 100% FFF membership club, our beliefs and goals remain the same. You can join just the Badgers for a modest $15.00 annual fee. As a member you can also enjoy our large (free) library of DVD’s covering all aspects of fly fishing!
We meet on the 4th Monday of each month, unless otherwise designated (see our calendar of events), at the Maple Tree Restaurant in McFarland. Meetings start at 7:00 P.M. and you are welcome to join us earlier for dinner at 6pm. A variety of speakers and programs are presented throughout the year, covering fly fishing and conservation-related topics.
Our major fund raiser of the year held in early February is The Spring Opener. This event presents programs and demonstrations by the world’s finest fly fishing authorities–Gary Borger, Dave Whitlock, Lefty Kreh, Dave Hughes, Ed Engle, Jim Teeney, Mike Lawson, Jack Dennis and Ian Colin James – just to name a few. We often feature Madison area and regional experts on fly fishing as well. The Spring Opener also includes fly tying instruction, a trade show, bucket raffles and a lively auction. Funds raised from this event support our conservation, stream restoration and education efforts. An evening banquet ends the day where we present the annual Joan and Lee Wulff Conservation Award.
Come join us at our monthly meetings and at the Spring Opener for fun, education and our conservation efforts.
